Our Lady’s staff and students return to the opening of their new extension and upgraded facilities

In a fantastic development for the local community, Our Lady’s Secondary School has undergone a remarkable transformation with the unveiling of a wonderful new 15 classroom extension. The opening of the new extension coupled with a number of exciting upgrades, has truly elevated Our Lady’s to new heights, ensuring a modern and innovative learning environment for staff and students. The heart of the expansion lies in the 15 new classrooms, each designed to facilitate optimal learning experiences. Among them are two state of the art Science labs, an Art room and a Technology suite. The introduction of a Technology suite marks a significant milestone, with Technology now being offered as both a junior cycle and senior cycle subject, empowering students to embrace the digital era with confidence and competence. In addition to the completion of the new extension the existing part of the school recently underwent a heating upgrade with a substantial investment of €860,000 made possible through the Department of Education and Skills Summer Works Scheme. Not to be overlooked is the upgrade to the astro turf pitch, which has been transformed with a cutting-edge 4G surface. This enhancement will not only elevate the quality of sports and physical education at the school but also offer a safe and durable environment for extracurricular activities and community events. Speaking at the school during the week Principal Mr. Kelly commented that ‘the remarkable expansion and upgrade of existing facilities at our school highlights our dedication to offering top class education and opportunities to our students.
