OLSStreams - Our Lady’s launches podcast

Transition Year students from Our Lady’s Secondary School Castleblayney are launching the school’s first-ever podcast on Friday 19th April.  OLSStreams is a series of four podcast episodes, which were created, recorded and edited by students in the Media and Marketing module in Transition Year.

Students interviewed past-pupils of the school, who have become household names in various fields, including an inter-county GAA star, a darts champion, a west-end musical actor and a make-up artist who is an extremely successful entrepreneur.

‘We all listen to podcasts, whether it be sport, comedy or interviews.  In our Media and Marketing module, we explored the possibility of creating our own podcast series and that’s where OLSStreams came from’, says Micheal Cumiskey, TY student in Our Lady’s.  ‘We have been working on this podcast series for the last few months, planning, producing and editing interviews and we are really proud of what we have created’.

TY module teacher Brighid Carson highlighted how the students’ interests were explored and developed throughout this process. ‘All students were involved in one way or another.  The students assumed roles, whether it was researchers, interviewers, sound engineers, graphic designers, marketing or PR.  They are very proud of their work and looking forward to launching OLSStreams for people to enjoy’.

The first episode will be available from Friday 19th April on www.soundcloud.com  Simply search OLSStreams or keep an eye out on Our Lady’s Secondary School social media for links to listen.
